Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is a painless, symptomless disease that destroys bone and gum tissue. 80% of people over the age of 35 have some form of periodontal disease. The usual 9-month checkup and cleaning is not sufficient to address these client’s needs. This patient typically needs their gums treated every 3-4 months to keep the situation stable. With thorough, frequent disruption of the plaque “biofilm” and regular home care review, it is possible to stabilize this disease and prevent further damage. The treatment goal, is to remove the inflammatory process in the mouth. Healthy tissue doesn’t bleed, nor is it acceptable to have inflammation in the mouth with recent research linking this inflammation to other systemic diseases.
